Five soldiers killed, five injured after vehicle plunges into gorge
A fire broke out at a house in Regent Colony, Tollygunge, on Sunday evening, causing extensive damage to the property. The incident occurred around 7:30 pm, alarming residents in the area. Two fire engines were immediately dispatched to the location to control the blaze.
The fire brigade officials managed to bring the fire under control within half an hour. However, by the time the flames were extinguished, everything inside the house had been destroyed. "We are still investigating the exact cause of the fire," a fire brigade official stated.
Locals speculated that the fire might have been caused by a lamp burning inside the house. According to witnesses, the lamp tipped over, igniting nearby cloth that quickly fueled the fire. The flames spread rapidly, engulfing the house before the fire brigade arrived.
Despite the severity of the fire, no casualties were reported. Neighbors played a vital role in containing the situation. They immediately informed the fire brigade and assisted in initial efforts to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby houses.
